fp was engaged by a Finnish corporate group to conduct a human rights saliency assessment across four group companies, each operating in a different sector.
Through a thorough internal document review, multilingual public record search, and stakeholder engagement, fp identified sector and geographic exposure to salient human rights issues for group companies.
Using these insights, fp developed a phased action plan for each company and designed a CSDDD compliance roadmap.
What does it really take to prepare for the EU’s CSDDD?
“We recently helped a Finnish corporate group get ready for the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (#CSDDD). Our work included:
- A human rights saliency assessment across four group companies,
- A regulatory gap and readiness assessment, and
- Drafting a due diligence policy aligned with CSDDD requirements.
A highlight of this project was working with Heidi Hautala, former Member and Vice-President of the European Parliament. During her time in Parliament, Heidi set up the Working Group on Responsible Business Conduct, which was key to creating the CSDDD.
Today, she works as an independent expert on sustainability and corporate accountability. She brings unique insights into how this legislation was designed and what it requires in practice. Her input added great value, making sure our recommendations were technically strong and aligned with the law’s original intent.
